WWE announces Edge will appear WWE NXT this week

February 3, 2021 by admin

Edge made his return at the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble as the No. 1 entrant and was victorious in the men’s marquee match to punch his ticket to WrestleMania.

After a successful win over his long-time rival Randy Orton on RAW, WWE has announced that The Rated-R Superstar will make his first appearance on WWE NXT this Wednesday.

The 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble winner has teased in the past his interest in working with some of the talent in NXT. This makes his appearance lead to plenty of intrigue among fans on what he will be up to.

Edge even teased his first time on the black and gold brand ahead of the announcement after visiting his wife in Orlando where NXT is filmed.

With his victory at the Royal Rumble, Edge could realistically bypass the WWE and Universal titles to go after the NXT Championship. “The Ultimate Opportunist” facing Finn Balor would deliver a tantalizing matchup for sure, but everyone will find out what is next this Wednesday.

Potential NXT opponents for Edge

Besides the NXT Champion, there are a surplus of compelling encounters for Edge to have on the third brand of WWE. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa have been pegged as favorites of the WWE Hall of Famer and would offer two different fantastic contests.

The Undisputed Era have been the top stable for the brand for years now and each member would provide a delightful dream match for Edge as well.

From KUSHIDA to Bronson Reed, fans could easily see a wide variety of terrific battles for the former multi-time world champion to sink his teeth into. Edge on NXT brings a lot of energy and hope heading into the Wednesday night show.

Watch: Drew McIntyre defeats Goldberg in a hard-hitting match at WWE Royal Rumble

February 1, 2021 by admin

WWE Royal Rumble kicked-off with WWE Champion Drew McIntyre defending his title against WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg. In what was a hard-hitting, typical Goldberg-style match, it almost seemed as if the Hall of Famer will walk out as the new WWE Champion. However, Drew McIntyre held his nerves and pinned Goldberg after hitting the Claymore to retain his title.

Drew McIntyre vs. Goldberg at WWE Royal Rumble 2021

Even before the bell rang, Drew McIntyre performed a spear on Goldberg and the action went outside the ring where Goldberg put McIntyre through a barricade. The match finally started with McIntyre back in the ring who hit Goldberg with the Claymore only for him to kick-out, much to the shock of the WWE Champion.

Recovering from that, Goldberg went on to deliver multiple spears and hit Drew McIntyre with the Jackhammer, the finisher with which he put down ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt last year. Drew McIntyre kicked-out of the Jackhammer and delivered a Claymore kick to Goldberg to finally pin him and retain his title after a hard-hitting quick match.

After the match, Goldberg came up to Drew McIntyre and the two had a massive moment of respect. The Hall of Famer hugged the WWE Champion and raised his hands before leaving the ring.

The men’s Royal Rumble match is set to main event the pay-per-view and the opponent for Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 37 could be revealed tonight.

“I took it personally” – Goldberg reveals he hated being confused with Stone Cold Steve Austin

January 29, 2021 by admin

Goldberg has reveled that he used to be mistaken for Stone Cold Steve Austin regularly, and that he took the mistake personally.

In a Q&A session prior to this weekend’s Royal Rumble, The Master of the Spear was asked whether or not fans would ever confuse him with the Texas Rattlesnake and how he responded.

As it turns out, Goldberg was not a fan of being mistaken for Stone Cold Steve Austin, for a number of reasons. Here is what Goldberg had to say on the matter:

“Well firstly he should be flattered because I’m a hell of lot better looking than he is. It used to really p*ss both of us off. We’ve talked about this exponentially because I like to say we’re pretty good friends. I always took it personally and it made me mad because Steve Austin is, like, 250lbs and I was like 285lbs / 290lbs. So I thought that if they thought I was Steve, then they thought I was small… I took that as a slight. Not because they thought I was Steve Austin the awesome wrestler, but because I was small. So there’s another layer to it. Throughout the years we used to both get really p*ssed off, now I think it’s hilarious. We actually try to bring it up to each other when it happens. It’s pretty fun.”

Thankfully, it seems both Goldberg and Stone Cold Steve Austin can look back on instances like these in hindsight and laugh about them.

Why did Goldberg vs Stone Cold Steve Austin never happen?

One dream match that many fans wished for, but that we never got to see, is Goldberg vs Stone Cold Steve Austin. During the Q&A session, the former Universal Champion opened up on why the mega match never actually happened.

“It was a timing issue, it was just a timing issue, and an injury issue. I love him exponentially, man, he’s a great dude and to have graced the ring with him in a match would have been absolutely phenomenal.”

Goldberg is set to take on Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.
