As you will have noticed on the news, the government has now eased lock-down restrictions on the community sport and leisure sectors after nearly 4 months of complete shutdown.
Its been really tough on a lot of clubs and coaches, but we all fully understand the health and safety reasons why, and mourn for the thousands of people who have sadly lost their lives due to this horrible virus including relatives within the wider Taekwondo family.
As things start to re-open in a limited way – community sport, like Taekwondo, has been given the green light to re-open classes from 25th July.
Whilst this is welcome – it is only a partial return, with social distancing still in force for anyone attending exercise and physical activity sessions. For obvious reasons, the possibility of contracting the virus poses a higher risk in indoor environments when people are in close proximity, sweating and breathing heavily.
British Taekwondo has now published the 1st Edition of our Return to Training guidance.
This has been put together in consultation with the DCMS, Sport England and other sports, that operate in class type sessions like ours. This guidance is based on the latest published information received from government after the announcement on Friday.
We ask clubs to constantly review our website to keep up to date with any updates that are almost certain to happen in the coming days and weeks.
To compliment this guidance, BT will also host a series of webinars to run through the latest guidance and answer as many queries people may have.
We are pleased to announce that the first Video conference session will take place on Zoom on Wednesday 15th July 2020, between 4:00pm – 5:30pm
This webinar will be open to all British Taekwondo coaches only.
We will also be running this conference slightly differently to previous versions due to the expected numbers of participants.
All registered BT coaches will automatically receive a link to join the zoom call in the coming days via an email.
- Our CEO Ian Leafe will run through an overview of the guidance and set out in simple terms what clubs should do to get themselves Covid secure and ready to open.
- BT development officer James Docherty will then summarise the main differences applicable to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
- Q & A about the guidance will then follow – questions should be posted on the zoom chat facility during the conference and we will answer as many as possible during the call, with any remaining via the publication of the chat file after the conference.
If you are interested in attending this Online Video Conference, remember, it is open to coaches only – so please keep an eye open for the email from [email protected] in the coming days (and check your junk folder in case it goes there!)
If you have any issues regarding joining the conference, please let us know by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Rhiannon will contact you on Wednesday with any assistance.
Stay safe and stay active and thank you for your continued support.
