Frampton: If Garcia Beats Pacquiao, He Becomes PPV Star Like Canelo

February 7, 2021 by admin

Former two division champion Carl Frampton is very surprised with Ryan Garcia’s desire to step in the ring with Manny Pacquiao.

Last month, the 22-year-old Garcia pulled off the biggest victory of his career when he knocked out 2012 Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell in seven rounds.

Pacquiao, 42-years-old, is boxing’s only eight division champion and still widely regarded as a very dangerous fighter.

The Filipino superstar has been out of the ring since July of 2019, when he won a twelve round decision over Keith Thurman to capture the WBA welterweight title.

Should a Pacquiao fight come together, Garcia would be required to move up a division or two, likely to a catch-weight between 140 and 147.

Frampton could certainly see a scenario where Pacquiao ends the fight by knockout.

“This is massive. If this fight gets made, you have to give Ryan Garcia credit, it’s a brave fight to take because Manny Pacquiao, although he’s not the fighter he once was, if Luke Campbell can drop Ryan Garcia, [then] Manny Pacquiao can knock him out. This is a risky fight,” Frampton stated on his Youtube channel.

But, with heavy risk comes a heavy reward.

In 2008, Pacquiao himself was competing as a lightweight and took a big risk when he moved up to the welterweight division to pull off a dominating stoppage of Oscar De La Hoya.

The victory made Pacquiao an instant pay-per-view star.

Frampton could see the same thing happen with Garcia – if he knocked off the veteran with an upset win.

“If Ryan Garcia goes to that level and beats a hero of mine, an absolute superstar in Manny Pacquiao – he puts himself [right up there] with Canelo Alvarez, who is the number one fighter on the planet, in terms of being the boxing superstar… just the top guy in boxing, he is pay-per-view – and Ryan Garcia would be number two. If he beats Manny Pacquiao he becomes number two in pay-per-view,” Frampton said.

“This is an extremely risky fight. If he goes and beats Manny Pacquiao, which he could very well do, it’s amazing. It’s a huge statement if he goes and wins, but there’s that chance he could get chinned and the bubble bursts a bit.”

Super Bowl 2021: Claressa Shields picking Tom Brady, Buccaneers to upset Chiefs

February 7, 2021 by admin

If you were looking for last-minute betting advice from Claressa Shields for tonight’s Super Bowl matchup between the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, great news!

“The Chiefs are the reigning champs and Patrick Mahomes has been amazing, but there is only one GOAT,” said Shields. “Tom Brady has a history of making his teams great, and in big games, he’s at another level. I’ve got to go with Brady and the Buccaneers.”

“Slow news day?” you might ask with a wry smile.

“Yes,” I would reply.

The Chiefs are slight favorites for Super Bowl LV, which will be held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, giving the Bucs home field advantage in theory. Similarly, Shields (10-0, 2 KO), is set to return Friday, Mar. 5, facing Marie-Eve Dicaire (17-0, 0 KO) for the undisputed junior middleweight championship on PPV from Shields’ hometown of Flint, Mich. So you can see how this ties in and is relevant.

Super Bowl LV airs this evening at 6:30 pm ET on CBS.

Teofimo Lopez lists his top five lightweights, puts Gervonta Davis fifth

February 7, 2021 by admin

Teofimo Lopez, who holds the WBA, IBF, and WBO lightweight titles and is considered far and wide the top man at 135 pounds right now, is never one to shy away from offering an opinion, whether asked for one or not.

Lopez listed his top five current lightweights in the sport, with himself rightly in the No. 1 spot:

His list:

  1. Teofimo Lopez
  2. Vasiliy Lomachenko
  3. Ryan Garcia
  4. Devin Haney
  5. Gervonta Davis

Lopez’s reasoning for putting “Tank” fifth of the five is that Davis has only fought once at 135 pounds so far. Keeping Lomachenko at No. 2 is both reasonable and good for Teofimo’s image, as he beat the man who was previously No. 1, and dropping him any lower would kinda diminish Teofimo’s achievement a bit more than he needs to; that’s pro wrestling promos 101, don’t say the people you’ve beaten suck. If you do, congrats, you’ve beaten people who suck. And definitely don’t say the people you’re going to face suck. If they beat you, you lost to someone who sucks. Bad #brand work, that.

In fact, Teofimo’s top five exactly matches my current top five at the weight, which just goes to show you that Teofimo Lopez is a genius, and everything he’s ever said is exactly correct.

What’s your order? Is Luke Campbell still there (in other words “how British are you”)?

Launch is a great place to find top-quality loot. It has a mix of tall buildings, houses, shacks, and tunnels. It is one of the most contested places on the map because of the loot it offers.

Players who can make it through Launch will have a good amount of loot to help them achieve victory in COD Mobile battle royale.

#2 – Cellhouse – Alcatraz

Cellhouse

The Cellhouse is band in the middle of the Alcatraz map. It is a hot drop location for players who consider getting the best loot after dropping. Most of the loot is in the buildings that have several floors and an open roof.

Although the quality and quantity of loot is optimal, looting in Cellhouse is a challenging task because buildings force close-quarter engagements.

Trainer Joel Diaz Believes Avni Yildirim Will “Shock The World” Against Canelo Alvarez | BoxingInsider.com

February 7, 2021 by admin

Posted on 02/07/2021

By: Hans Themistode

Super middleweight contender Avni Yildirim has essentially become an afterthought. His upcoming showdown against the consensus best boxer in the world in Canelo Alvarez has already been chalked up as a loss.

In addition to what round Yildirim will be knocked out in, fans are already discussing how Alvarez will fare in his matchup against Billy Joe Saunders. The doubters however, don’t bother Yildirim or his trainer Joel Diaz. They simply ask that you don’t jump out of your seat once they take care of business in a few short weeks.

“Avni may be an underdog but he doesn’t care what anybody says,” said his trainer Joel Diaz. “He’s fighting for his country and he’s going to shock the world. This guy is not only a gym rat and a hard worker, but he’s a smart fighter, he loves learning. It doesn’t matter how hard the work is, he never complains.”

Yildirim, of course, is an overwhelming underdog against Alvarez come February 27th. In the mind’s eye of many, the Turkish native is fortunate to be in the position he is in today. Having been out of the ring for two years, Yildirim hasn’t officially won a fight since 2018. In his most recent ring appearance, Yildirim came up just short in his first bid to become a world champion. However, the loss wasn’t without a bit of controversy.

Roughly two years ago, Yildirim took on former belt holder Anthony Dirrell with the vacant WBC super middleweight title on the line. Although he came out of the gates slow, Yildirim picked up momentum during the second half of their contest. While Yildirim appeared to be the fresher and stronger fighter down the stretch, an unfortunate clash of heads in the seventh round forced their bout to end prematurely due to the gash on Dirrell’s eyebrow refusing to close.

Yildirim would then reluctantly accept a technical decision loss as the scorecards were read. Despite the defeat and ring inactivity, for some inexplicable reason, the WBC left Yildirim in the mandatory position and now finds himself in the most high-profile matchup of his career.

Regardless of his lack of ring appearances, Yildirim’s time on the sidelines wasn’t spent twiddling his thumbs. He worked constantly with Diaz as the COVID-19 induced shutdown helped speed up their time together. Now, with years to help mold him into the fighter he wants, Diaz believes he has just the right man to make the rest of the boxing world look stupid for doubting him.

“He’s a completely different fighter from when he fought Dirrell. I said to him, you are a physically stronger guy than Dirrell but you had no defense. That’s why they called him ‘Mr. Robot’, but there’s no robot in him now, I can tell you. I made a complete transformation because I dedicated time to him. The COVID situation helped him in a way because there was nothing to do. There were no fights, so just to keep him busy we would go to the gym and work on technique and making him a better fighter. Any trainer would like to have him, he just does what you tell him to do. He’s a true soldier – you tell him to do something, he just does it.”
