Ok so here’s the situation I would like to get advice on. My friends play at an outdoor court (semi-covered from buildings) with plastic shuttles regularly. When we play against teams from other localities, we use plastic shuttles. When we go into tournaments, those are also with plastic shuttles.
Once a week 4 to 6 of us go indoor to play with plastic shuttles
One of my friends has gone indoor to take training with feather shuttles. He was suggesting the idea of:
1- Playing with feather shuttles indoor once a week, instead of plastic.
2- Purchasing feather shuttles with the month’s money pooled from everyone, and playing outdoor with feather shuttles. (there is slight breeze usually, and 1-2 days per week quite strong wind in which playing is waste of time)
My (and several other members’) logic against this is that when we are ultimately going to play plastic whenever we play outdoor, why waste money on feather? He says game skill is improved by playing with feather shuttles, as the accuracy and preciseness of shots is improved ( I agree with this), but isn’t that wasted when you go back to playing with plastic the rest of the week? I.e. you adjust 1 day to playing with feather and next day you have to switch back to plastic shuttles?
Most of us also have limited budgets so there’s also that. Feather shuttles aren’t very economic for us. That’s why I would like to know if there is any benefit obtained from situation 1 and 2.
