Head of Iran judo federation Arash Miresmaeli has been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack on Saturday.
Miresmaeili was rushed to the hospital following the heart attack.
Miresmaeili has been under pressure over the past years due to Iran’s matter at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
CAS, on Monday, lifted the indefinite suspension imposed on the Iran Judo Federation.
Judoka Arash Miresmaeili of Iran was double World Champion 2001-2003, he won 3 medals in total and three Asian titles. Miresmaeili was born in Khorramabad (Iran) and was coached by Mohammad Reza. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Iranian world champ Arash Miresmaeili was disqualified for weighing in at nearly four pounds above the limit U66kg as he didn’t want to fight Ehud Vaks (ISR). Miresmaeili was later awarded $125,000 by the Government, the same amount given to Olympic gold medallists.

Former double World Champion Arash Miresmaeili has been elected for a four-year term till 2023 by receiving 32 votes out of 43 votes in the presidential elections held at the Iran’s Academy Olympic in Teheran. Read more

Day 4 of the 2000 Junior World Judo Championships in Nabeul in Tunisia saw the final three categories battle it out on the mats. Competing for gold were the female heavyweights in the +78kg category and the two lightest categories for men: -60kg and -66kg. These last two were also the largest with 46 competitors in each weight class. Read more
