Austria is busy with a refreshment of coaches. Also at state level a new coach will arrive. The path of the Judo State Association Vorarlberg will likely have a new impulses with French coach Darcel Yandzi. The Judo association of Vorarlberg is under negotiation with the Frenchman. With the installment of young regional President Lukas Fleisch more initiatives are taken in Vorarlberg, the state where Laurin Boehler comes from.
In the future, Fleisch would like to continue the path of its predecessor, but also set some new impulses. For example, national coach Marco Lamprecht (44) and sports coordinator Michael Greiter (28), who have brought the athletes forward very successfully, will hopefully be supported by Darcel Yandzi (47) Yandzi is as an international trainer for top-class sport, but also to provide selective support for club work to be brought on board. The Frenchman, who won the European Championship in 1993 and won the bronze medal at the World Championship, is supposed to prepare the athletes in the final stages of the Olympic qualification for 2021 and also for the upcoming World Cup and European Championship.
Lukas Fleisch is even eyeing on two Olympic starters at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. “That is very ambitious, but not impossible,” said Fleisch. In addition, Dornbirn is to become a permanent judo federal base. There should also be some structural changes, for example competitive and top-class sport should be more closely associated with the Judo State Association. But not only top-class sport, but also popular sport is very important to Fleisch: “A solid breadth is required in order to be able to develop a top. The clubs can count on me here. “
Previously Vorarlberg had Craig Fallon under contract as top coach.
