The Danish assistant national coach Thomas Stavngaard has been tested positive for Covid-19 in Birmingham, England. The test was taken on Monday 15 March with a PCR test and carried out as part of the All England tournament’s test strategy.
Thomas Stavngaard says that he does not feel any symptoms of Covid-19, but conversely feels fresh.
Stavngaard and the rest of the Danish delegation have followed all protocols in connection with entry into England and tournament participation to All England.
He underwent a PCR test on Friday morning after training at the National Elite Training Center, which was negative. He was to present the negative PCR test in connection with his flight to Heathrow on Sunday afternoon together with the rest of the Danish delegation.
The entire Danish delegation was PCR-tested at the hotel on Monday morning at 9.00. Then they went directly to the rooms in isolation, where they remain. It also means that they are not going to train today as planned.
The consequence of the positive Covid-19 case is still unknown. That is why Badminton Denmark is in close dialogue with Badminton England, the All England tournament management, BWF and the local authorities.
